I get asked often how I balance working full-time, running two (soon to be potentially 3 businesses), blog, run a household and just, well live. The truth is I haven’t been doing so great at this lately.
I get on a really good roll with one and another thing on the list slides. I wanted this to be the year of health and it has been but I can’t seem to get it all going at the same time. If I’m on a good workout schedule, I am not on the best meal prep and food schedule. If I’m taking time to relax, my blog post schedule is all over the map. I keep up with my beauty routine a few days and then I have a late night business call and just crawl into bed with makeup still on to get as much sleep as I can.
It’s. Not. Working.
Gosh, it feels so freeing to just say that. My current routines and schedule just aren’t working. I feel like I’m halfway working on everything and nothing is getting done. I have realized that how I schedule my days and prioritize has to change to find a better balance. I’m writing this laying awake at 3am because I can’t shut off my brain. Time to make some changes!
My body is giving me all the signals that it’s overworked, over stressed and not being taken care of properly. Even though I’m doing better at taking care of my health I’m not doing enough. I can’t be the wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, friend or employee I want to be if I’m not feeling well and taking care of myself.
With that being said, I am working on establishing a new routine each day and blogging schedule to help me accomplish this. Once I finalize my daily routine/schedule, I will post it here for two reasons. One, to help hold myself accountable to sticking to it. And two, because if you feel like you’re juggling more than you can handle maybe it will help you too. My new blogging schedule is going to be this: I plan to have new content here first thing in the morning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If I have extra content or things I want to post, I may pop in to share those another day of the week. I am hoping this will help you all know when to check here for content and allow me to stay involved in the blogging world without feeling overwhelmed. 5 days of quality content each week is just more than I can handle right now. I would rather post quality content & images I feel good about 3 times per week than throw 5 posts together each week and stress myself out over it.
Other things I plan on implementing or reimplementing in my schedule are:
- Spending 10-15 minutes on Sunday evenings planning out my schedule and to-do list for the week.
- Setting aside time each day for exercise
- Spending time each day reading a devotional or the Bible
- Setting time limits on social media and phone usage in general, especially in the evenings
- Consistency in what time I go to bed & wake up
- Picking one task I’ve been putting off and accomplishing it each week
- Listening to my body and nourishing it with the nutritional foods it needs
I think we could all find more balance if we’re being honest. I’m choosing to prioritize figuring this out before my schedule gets really out of control and it gets harder. I’m going to be checking in on how this is going so I hope to let you all know in a few months that I have found the perfect balance. Ha! Like that even exists. But in all seriousness, I hope to check in here in a month or two and tell you that I’ve found a better balance in my life and be able to share the tips & tricks that have helped me.
If you have any tips on finding a balance, blogging schedules, favorite routines/tips, please share in the comments below. Something that may seem so obvious to you could be super helpful to someone else who hasn’t thought of it!
