Before getting to the point of this day’s post, welcome to my new website! I’m in LOVE with the new, clean and fresh design. I have been in blog burnout for the past several months so I took a month off, had the blog redesigned & sat down and planned out where I want this blog to go. I wanted to be excited to create new content again and have consistent and authentic posts to share with you all! It felt like I was trying to keep up with what I thought readers wanted to see instead of just being me and letting you all see that 🙂 SO, from here on out be ready for a better glimpse of me, our life and what I love!
Be sure to subscribe to be notified each time that I post now that I’m on WordPress. Also, check out all the new features & let me know what you think! I’m still working on categorizing all my old posts to get those in the right spot but I’m almost finished. This change has been a labor of love so I hope you all love it, give it some love & share it with anyone you think would enjoy following along!
Special shout out to Sara! She has been such a help guiding me through my random questions while I was going through this process!
Now, moving on to today’s topic: the 21 day fix!
I’m sure most of you all have heard about the 21 Day Fix, Beachbody or Shakeology! I heard about these programs years ago and just got around to trying them out over the past several months.
About a year and a half ago, I went on a major walking & Weight Watchers kick and lost a lot of weight. Last year, I had some health problems and gained it all back +5. Talk about frustrating!! I decided to try something new to lose the weight and ordered the 21 day fix!
I have played around with this program off and on for the last few months and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you!
This was probably my least favorite part of the program! I found it took a lot of time to make my plan for the week, calculate container amounts of everything and make food that Jared and I would like. Some people love the containers and do great with this system! It was just really hard for me. I felt restricted and I never seemed to get the counts right. It just stressed me out! With our hectic and ever-changing schedule this just didn’t work for us.
The workouts are great! I don’t have a lot of spare time in my day so I liked that I could knock out a good workout first thing in the morning and then if I could get a good walk or second workout in a few days a week then that was just a bonus! I actually purchased the Beachbody On Demand system for this year. When it’s nice out I love to walk but I like getting in more intense workouts when I can as well. I love that with the on demand system I can try a bunch of different workouts and do whichever one I’m in the mood for. The 21 day fix workout program was great! I struggled with the Pilates & yoga days but that was more of a mental challenge than physical. I like to be moving and sweating when I work out and it was hard for me to stay mentally focused on these.
I’m not going to lie, I was very hesitant about trying Shakeology. It’s pretty expensive but I decided to go ahead and give it a try. I have been very impressed! I’m always running behind in the mornings and it was nice to find a breakfast I could throw together in minutes and finish on my way to work. I may not have hit my meal plan or workout goal every day but I’ve had my Shakeology almost every day for months! It really does taste like a chocolate milkshake.
If you like quick but effective workouts, easy breakfasts and are okay with figuring out the ins and outs of the meal plan then you would probably love this program! I definitely felt less bloated and more energized while doing it but I didn’t really see any weight loss which was my primary goal.
Have you tried the 21 day fix?
My New Plan
I LOVED Weight Watchers when I did it before (and had amazing results!) and have decided to go back to using the Weight Watchers meal plan in conjunction with walking and the Beachbody workouts. Basically, I’m going to combine my favorite parts of each program. I love the WW program and their points counting system works great for me! Weight Watchers allows me to eat what I want within reason. Plus, it’s easy to type it in the app and let it do all the calculating for me. I downloaded the app on Friday and I already feel 100x better. More in control & prepared to make good food choices to get to my goal. I lost 20+ pounds last time following that program and walking so I’m hoping by adding in the more intense workouts this time I’ll see even better results!
Don’t ever let someone tell you there is only one weight loss or healthy plan that is right for you. I still have several pounds to go towards my goal and failing at a plan so many people rave over was making me feel bad about myself. The last time I felt super body confident was when I was on Weight Watchers so I decided to go back to what I knew worked for me & made me feel good about myself! Weight loss is about finding what you can commit to and what works for you and your lifestyle.
If you are interested in keeping up with my workouts and what I’m eating on Weight Watchers, I track it all here on my fitness instagram profile to hold myself accountable. Feel free to follow along & if you are on Weight Watchers too let me know and we can share recipes/tips/support! I am pinning Weight Watchers approved recipes here if you want to check those out as well.
